Descendants of John McLure

Notes

1. John McLure

From The McLure Record by Wm. Richard McLure,II, 1959. Birmingham, AL.
"It is generally believed that the McLures came to America in the early 1700's from Scotland and settled in Pennsylvania.  There is a record of Andrew McLure from Glasgow, Scotland, born in 1698, died in 1750, married to Jean or Janet, born in 1702 and died April 25 1837.  This information came from Kenneth M. McLure, attorney in New Castle, PA."

"There was a John Rankin living in Lancaster County, PA, who had a daughter by name of Ann or Annabella;  her brothers names were William, John, Thomas, and Richard which names are common with the McLure families.  It is logical to suppose that John McLure married this Ann Rankin and moved south and settled in South Carolina."

"The last Will and Testament of John McLure was filed Dec 13 1843 and recorded in Probate office at Beaver Creek, Kershaw County, SC in book of Wills, pages 68-71, including names of all his children." (p. 1)
